The Washington Commanders will have one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the NFL in 2024. Jayden Daniels has been compared to Lamar Jackson primarily for his running ability, but he was a better passer than Jackson when he entered the NFL in 2018.
But how athletic is the rest of Washington's roster?
Kent Lee Pratt, creator of the Relative Athletic Score metric, which tests a player's athleticism, ranked the Commanders as the team with the 20th-most athletic roster in the 2024 class.
Interestingly, Washington had the highest RAS in the 2024 NFL Draft with an average of 9.427, which was the first draft class for new general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn.
In terms of 20th-place team RAS in 2024, the Commanders have an average RAS of 7.29.
20. Washington #Commander
average #RAS 7.26The Commanders had a very athletically advanced draft class, but still ranked just 20th overall on the team. The past three draft classes have been around that rank or better, so there may be a renewed emphasis on athleticism.

This shows that Peters and Quinn are targeting elite athletes. Washington obviously wants a good football player, but the Commanders have often been a slow team on the field every week for the last few years. Yes, a good football player is desirable, but ideally, they want a good football player who is a high-level athlete.
In recent years, Washington has not had enough of either.
