Business email compromise (BEC) is now the most popular attack method, with three-quarters (70%) of organizations targeted by BEC attacks in the past year, according to the report. We found that one-third (29%) of respondents have been the victim of one or more BEC attacks.
Almost half (45%) of respondents said their organization experienced a ransomware attack in the past 12 months, an increase from last year, and the majority (86%) of those attacks involved data Contains successful theft.
Two-thirds (66%) of organizations that suffered a data breach last year chose to publicly disclose information about the incident, while one-third (30%) only disclosed the breach to affected parties.
Additionally, the report found that while demand for and adoption of cyber insurance is widespread, only a small percentage of organizations (5%) have decided not to obtain coverage. Of the remaining organizations surveyed, the majority (66%) have active cyber insurance policies, while another nearly a third (29%) are in the process of obtaining or plan to obtain insurance this year.
