The state soccer playoffs began last week, and many Savannah athletes had great performances to help their teams advance to the second round.
The postseason has begun in some regions, and track and field events are in full swing, while the postseason season for lacrosse and golf is also just around the corner.

Here are this week's nominees.
Holly Kachmar, Islands
The sophomore scored five goals for the Sharks in a win over Baldwin in the opening round of the playoffs.
Liam Hogan, Benedictine
The senior had three assists and two goals for the Benedictine lacrosse team as the Cadets defeated Savannah Country Day 14-7 to win the area title and earn a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
Amelia Leci, Savannah Arts
The sophomore had three goals and three assists for the Panther soccer team in a first-round playoff win over Central Macon. She has 46 goals and 10 assists this season.
Braden Schneible, Habersham School
The junior shot 75 shots to lead the Patriots to a victory in the Blue Devil Invitational at Georgia Southern GC in Statesboro on Saturday.
Ella Stone, Savannah Country Day
The senior had two goals and one assist for the Hornets in a win over Upson-Lee in the opening round of the playoffs.
Edson Escobar, South Effingham
The senior had three assists and scored a goal in the Mustangs' season-opening win over Forest Park in the first round of the Class 6A soccer playoffs.
Jack Stephens, Islands
The junior scored two goals in the Sharks soccer team's first round playoff win over Spalding.
Billy Johnson, Jenkins
The senior won the 110-meter hurdles (15.04) and 300-meter hurdles (39.41) at the Region 1-5A meet in Hinesville.
Mareach Pritchett, Richmond Hill
The freshman finished in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.44, setting a school record.
Hart Tedder, Jenkins
At the Region 1-5A meet in Hinesville, the junior won the 3,200 meters (10:07.30), placed second in the 1,600 meters (4:41.05) and third in the 800 meters (2:04). 77).
Aziah Scott, New Hampstead
At the SCCPSS Senior Night meet held Friday at Savannah High Stadium, seniors won first place in the shot put (41-7) and discus (143-4).
Haley Grant, Johnson
The senior won the 400-meter race at the SCCPSS Senior Night meet on Friday at Savannah High Stadium with a time of 58.92 seconds.
Chloe Adkins, Effingham County
The freshmen won the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter races at the SCCPSS Senior Night meet Friday at Savannah High Stadium in 5:48.78 and 11:56.44.
