KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Virginia Tech sophomore Caleb Henson won the 149-pound final at the NCAA Wrestling Championships Saturday night.
Fourth-seeded Henson (30-2) defeated sixth-seeded Austin Gomez (13-3) of Michigan State, 15-7.
Henson joins 2019 NCAA champion Mekhi Lewis as the only NCAA wrestling champions in Tech history. Saturday marks the fifth time a Hokie has wrestled in an NCAA final.
Henson defeated No. 1 seed Ridge Lovett of Nebraska 1-0 in the semifinals Friday night.
Henson and teammates Lewis, Bryce Andonian and Thomas Stewart Jr. earned All-America honors.
Lewis, the top seed at 174, finished fourth and became the first four-time All-American in program history.
Lewis, who lost in the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon, defeated world No. 12 Patrick Kennedy (Iowa) 8-4 in the repechage match on Friday night to become the U.S. champion. Lewis then defeated No. 18 Ben Paciuk (Army) 4-0. On Saturday, Lewis defeated world No. 7 Lennox Wallach of Colorado, 9-6, to advance to the third-place match. In the third-place match, fourth-seeded Shane Griffith (Michigan State) defeated Lewis 4-0.

Bryce Andonian, the 12th seed at 157, finished sixth.
In Friday night's semifinal, top-seeded Levi Haynes (Penn State) nailed Andonian in overtime. On Saturday, Andonian was stopped by third-seeded Mayer Shapiro of Cornell University and relegated to the fifth-place match. In the fifth-place match, seventh-seeded Payten Keller (West Virginia) defeated Andonian in 3 minutes and 23 seconds.
Thomas Stewart Jr. was the seventh-seeded freshman and finished seventh at 184.
Stewart, who lost in the quarterfinals Friday afternoon, defeated No. 14 Chris Foka (Cornell University) 3-2 in the repechage match Friday night to become the All-American. Sixth-seeded Bernie Tuax (Penn State University) then defeated Stewart 5-1, relegating Stewart to the seventh-place match. On Saturday, Stewart defeated Navy's David Key 20-4 to take seventh place.

The visiting Hokies (25-5-1) scored five runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Crimson Tide (25-6) on Saturday.
Alabama scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game.
But in the eighth inning, Cameron Fagan hit a two-RBI single. Bre Peck scored on a wild pitch and Michelle Chatfield hit a two-run home run to extend the lead.
It was Tech's first win in the seven-game series.
Alabama defeated Tech 1-0 on Friday night.

With his team trailing 5-4 in the ninth inning, Upstate's Troy Hamilton attempted to score on a fly from third base to right field. But right fielder Corbin Grantham (son of Pulaski County and Virginia Tech graduate and New Orleans Saints assistant Todd Grantham) threw home, and catcher Brady Whitaker tagged Hamilton out, ending the game. Finished it.
Upstate defeated Radford 15-5 on Friday.
