It's been almost a month since the popular game Stardew Valley received a major update, and we have to say it's a game-changer.
For the uninitiated, Stardew Valley is a farming simulation game about a farmer who recently quits his city job to take over his grandfather's old farm in Pelican Town. Players have a lot to do, including meeting people throughout the town and restoring the farm to its former glory, and can start anywhere.
It's well known that this game has always been about just “doing chores” and while updates may have added more chores to do, it's still far more than doing chores in real life. It's fun.
Updates included everything from new crafting items to completely new festivals. My personal favorite is the seemingly endless amount of new dialogue for everyone in town. It's a small detail, but villagers are now more responsive to the world around them, which makes the game feel more alive and makes talking to the townspeople a little more interesting.
Outside of the update itself, the mini-renaissance the game has undergone has been incredible. On the day of the update, he had over 30,000 people visit his Twitch page, and many streamers continue to play the game, so people like us who love the game are already thriving.
Additionally, as the game gets featured through updates, it brings in a lot of new players, and community growth is rarely bad. It doesn't help that this game is generally more accessible than many other popular games.
Only the PC version of the game is receiving the update at the moment, but the game is also available on mobile, console, and Switch. And while the game costs just $15 on regular days, it's even cheaper during sales, often less than $10.
All in all, this was a fun game I spent hundreds of hours on, and it just got even more fun.
