Virginia Commonwealth University announced the appointment of Dr. Meredith Weiss as senior vice provost for financial management and chief financial officer.
In this expanded role, approved today by VCU's Board of Visitors, Mr. Weiss will be responsible for overseeing company-wide financial and business operations, including accounting, budgeting, treasury, treasury, procurement and business services. Weiss has more than 21 years of experience in higher education finance, operations, and management. At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he was promoted to senior vice chancellor for finance and administration, overseeing a $3.1 billion budget and having responsibilities ranging from finance, treasury and support operations to energy services, public safety and trademarks. license.
While serving as VCU's vice president for administration, Weiss served as executive sponsor of the One VCU Master Plan, the first master site plan to align the university and health system's physical campus environment with VCU's strategic plan. Weiss received his Ph.D. He earned a bachelor's degree in information science and a master's degree in accounting from UNC-Chapel Hill. She earned her MBA and master's degree in information science from North Carolina Central University, a master's degree in educational technology from East Carolina University, and a bachelor's degree in human resources from the University of Delaware. Mr. Weiss is also a certified public accountant.
