POWELL, Ohio (WCMH) — A tavern known as an upscale sports bar has opened inside the former home of a pizzeria in central Ohio.
1801 Tavern is now welcoming guests at 9721 Sawmill Road after opening earlier this month, and the restaurant has been sharing on social media. The bar will take over the space that Shorty's Pizza and Growl operated until late last year, closing in favor of the pizzeria's other eateries in Delaware, Lewis Center and Columbus.

The restaurant's cocktail menu features several classic cocktails like the Martini and Manhattan, as well as seasonally changing offerings like the classic Honey Hibiscus, perfect for spring. A large selection of draft beers, bottled beers, and a wine list complement the menu.
1801 Tavern opens in Powell as several other businesses and developments spring up in the area, including a breakfast and brunch spot featured on the Food Network with Biscuits and Gravy. The chain, named Maple Street Biscuit Co., opened his third location in central Ohio at 9711 Sawmill Parkway in February.
The tavern is also not far from the only target of a flurry of retail stores opening nearby, as developers move closer to building a new 43,000-square-foot shopping center next to the department store.
