ARLINGTON, Va., March 21, 2024 (Globe Newswire) — Today, the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) released data showing that U.S. travel agents' ticket sales totaled $8.9 billion in February. Announced. This is a 6% increase from February 2023, and according to ARC data from February, agency sales set a record for the first month in a row.

“Americans continue to prioritize domestic travel at the beginning of the year, with annual trips to U.S. destinations outpacing international travel,” said Steve Solomon, ARC's chief commercial officer. “Airlines are seeing solid demand from both corporate and leisure travelers, indicating the health and expected growth of air travel in 2024.”
Ancillary sales increased 34% year-over-year to $29 million in February, with ancillary transactions increasing 47% to 476,633 in the same period**.

- Results are based on monthly sales data through February 29, 2024, from 10,367 U.S. retail and corporate travel agency locations, satellite ticket printing offices, and online travel agencies. This result does not include sales of tickets purchased directly from airlines.
- Average ticket price (USD) is the cost of a round-trip ticket paid through ARC for an itinerary that includes travel within the United States only.
- Passenger travel includes the total number of passengers traveling from one airport to another on direct or connecting flights. Newly ticketed trips are added and refunded trips are subtracted to provide a complete picture of passengers traveling.
- Domestic U.S. passenger travel includes the total number settled through ARC if the itinerary is entirely within the United States. International passenger travel includes the total number of trips settled through an ARC if some or all of the travel is to or departs from an airport outside the United States.
- Total revenue is equal to the total amount paid for the ticket, including taxes and fees.
