Say goodbye to long and arduous train journeys!
From June 15th, high-speed rail travel time from Beijing or Shanghai to Hong Kong will be reduced to just 11 to 12 hours.
The overnight high-speed sleeper train will complement two existing daytime high-speed trains that run between these major cities.
The total journey time from Beijing to Hong Kong will drop from 24 hours 31 minutes to just 12 hours 34 minutes. Similarly, the journey time from Shanghai to Hong Kong will drop from 19 hours 34 minutes to 11 hours 14 minutes. This means you can catch a train in the evening and arrive fresh the next morning.
The details required are:
1. Beijing West Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station:
- The D909 train departs Beijing West Station at 8:13pm and arrives in Hong Kong at 8:47am the next day.
- The D910 train departs Hong Kong West Kowloon station at 6:24pm and arrives in Beijing at 6:53am the following morning.
2. From Shanghai Hongqiao Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station:
- Train D907 departs Shanghai Hongqiao Station at 8:15pm and arrives in Hong Kong at 7:29am.
- The D908 train departs Hong Kong West Kowloon station at 7:49pm and arrives in Shanghai at 6:45am.
Each train includes 2 second class coaches, 13 sleeper coaches and 1 dining car. The trains are equipped with advanced facilities to ensure a comfortable ride, with over 600 seats per train, significantly more than regular direct trains.
During operation Friday, Saturday, Sunday, MondayThe number of high-speed sleeper trains running per week will increase from 14 to 16.
Passengers will benefit from “one-stop border control” at Hong Kong West Kowloon station, significantly reducing customs clearance times.
And unlike previously where trains were only available from Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, passengers can now depart or arrive from multiple stations along the line, including Shijiazhuang, Guangzhou, Shenzhen North and Hangzhou East.
Tickets will be on sale June 5th from noon Tickets can be purchased on the China Railways website “12306” (and app), at train stations and from automated ticket vending machines.

From June 15, three EMU trains will be added between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Guangzhou East Station, and two trains will be added between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Shenzhen North Station. A new line will also be added between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Zhangjiajie West Station. This will connect Hong Kong to mainland China with a maximum of 127 EMU trains a day, reaching 16 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities).
