Argentine travel influencer Leonel Esteban Bolloni was found dead just hours after being charged with possessing child pornography with the intent to distribute.
According to local media reports, the 40-year-old content creator's body was discovered by his brother-in-law at his home in a Buenos Aires suburb on May 17.
When Bolloni didn't answer his calls, the influencer's mother reportedly sent a relative to the area to investigate.
Police said the body was found hanging from a skylight, its hands and feet bound with plastic string, leading authorities to suspect it may have been self-controlling.
Police suspect Boloni committed suicide but are currently awaiting autopsy results.
The YouTuber reportedly left a farewell message on her cellphone in which he claimed he was “depressed” over the child pornography case.
Authorities searched Bolloni's home on Thursday and reportedly found electronic devices containing explicit material featuring minors.
However, he was not arrested at the time.
Authorities also detained six adults aged between 20 and 50, including a physical education teacher, during the operation, which is being carried out as part of a human trafficking and sexual abuse investigation.
Bologni then appeared before a judge on Friday but reportedly refused to answer questions about the charges.
Known online as “The Traveling Lion,” the influencer has become a fixture on social media for his unique travelogues of trips around the world by motorbike.
Bolloni frequently posted these bike diaries to his Instagram, YouTube and TikTok channels, garnering a combined total of more than 300,000 followers by the time of his death.
In his last TikTok post, a week ago, Boloni was seen traveling around Suriname on his bike.
