(Colorado Springs) — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has issued a travel advisory to let people know of multiple lane closures planned on Interstate 25 starting Sunday, May 19th. These closures are part of two projects, one to increase traffic. Another project would improve the safety and efficiency of Interstate 25 and widen South Academy Boulevard.
Improving Interstate 25 Safety and Efficiency
The southbound section of Interstate 25 between Mesa Ridge Parkway and Mile 133 will be closed for part of the night of May 19th from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday, May 20th. Become. The road will be closed again between milepost 129 near Crest. Drive and 131 near Office Circle will be closed at 7pm on Monday, May 20th, and that closure will continue overnight until 6am on Tuesday, May 21st.
A state of emergency closure is scheduled from 7pm on Tuesday, May 21st to 6am on Wednesday, May 22nd. If a closure occurs, it will occur on southbound Interstate 25 between MP 129 and 131.
Additionally, the left lane of northbound 1-25 will be closed from 6pm to 6am on Monday, May 20th as crews pave the shoulder on MP 132.
South Academy Boulevard widening project
Bradley Road under the South Academy Bridge will have alternate one-way traffic from Monday, May 20 to Thursday, May 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and motorists should expect some delays.
There are currently minor lane changes in place on the southbound South Academy Boulevard off-ramp to US 85/87 as crews work on drainage pipes in the area. Valid until the 23rd. Temporary on/off ramps installed for motorists heading north on South Academy Boulevard while crews work on roads, drainage and utilities in the area. Speeds there will be reduced to 30 mph, and the closure will last until the fall.
