The newly renovated store embodies the brand's commitment to sustainability.
Singapore, March 29, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Samsonite's newest retail store celebrates the marriage of travel and social responsibility Singapore. Located in Suntec City, this retail project is more than just a shop, it is a symbol of Samsonite's commitment to leading the sustainable transformation of the lifestyle bag and luggage industry.
“We don't just make luggage; we aim to make the industry more sustainable, one journey at a time,” he said. Satish Peerbandideclared Samsonite SEA Vice President.
In 2020, Samsonite launched a comprehensive global sustainability strategy, “Our Responsible Journey,” focused on three strategic pillars: Products, Planet and People. A sustainability strategy is a compass that guides decision-making and the path to long-term goals for 2030. As well as increasing the use of sustainable materials in its products and packaging, Samsonite also uses recycled plastic bottles for some of its backpacks and waste plastic for some of its suitcases. We are actively working towards a future where this is the norm.
Sustainability is woven into Samsonite's tapestry, impacting more than the products we develop. This can be seen in how companies engage with their employees, partners, and communities. Suntec City's newest outlet exemplifies this commitment.
An immersive journey into sustainable retail
When you walk through our doors, you find yourself at the intersection where innovative design and thoughtful environmental practices meet. Efforts have been made to design each instrument with sustainability in mind.
The balau wood carvings that surround the space not only infuse the store with elegance, but also tell a story of rebirth. Each piece of wood used has been reworked and given a second life after at least 30 years in the shipyards of Tuas, further enhancing the store's timeless appeal.
Similarly, the store's exterior façade was made from recycled aluminum from a supplier known for producing bags made from recycled aluminum. Checkout counters are made from plastic waste, cleaned, shredded into flakes, and then reshaped and designed into new checkout counters. The shelves are made from recycled plastic and are intentionally made to look similar to today's glass or laminate sheets.
All of this once again shows that through creativity and innovation, waste can be given a new productive life.
