Tomb Raider's Lara Croft is the most iconic video game character of all time, according to a poll.
The video game heroine has beaten the likes of Nintendo's Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog and Pac-Man.
The Tomb Raider character, an archaeologist who explores tombs and ruins, first appeared in the series in 1996.
Since then, Lara Croft has been played on screen by American actresses Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.
Netflix plans to release an animated series based on the game this year.
The Bafta poll was conducted among 4,000 players to mark the 20th Game Awards later this month.
Cherie Blonde, the original voice actress for Lara Croft, said: “When I voiced the original Tomb Raider game, I had no idea it would become such a global phenomenon, and neither did Eidos and Core Design.
“They had only ever done children's games before, so of course they wanted it to be a success, but I think it far exceeded all expectations.
“When creating the voice for Lara Croft, I came up with the idea from a rough sketch that I had in front of me, and I focused on the fact that she's a female Indiana Jones-like character, brave and articulate. Did.
“Lara is very special to me because she means so much to gamers. I love hearing stories from people around the world who have helped me become who I am.
“And the most beautiful thing of all is hearing how gamers used to play this game with their parents who are no longer with them. My voice, the game's music, and the sound effects are all in memory of their loved ones. It's an honor to be a part of it for them.”
