The Tennessee Titans have $55 million cornerback Rajarius Snead, but reporters asked about his knee.
During Snead's induction press conference on Tuesday, the two-time Super Bowl champion was asked about his health following rumors that knee concerns were impacting the trade market. his answer is Veteran Titans reporter Paul Kuharski:
“I don't have any problems with my knee. It's fine. I played all season. I played the same way a few years before that. I had some problems. I banged my knee before. But I'm fine.'' I'm fine now. I don't have any particular problems with my knees. ”
In addition to being effective, Snead has been durable for the Chiefs in recent years. He missed part of his rookie year in 2020 with a broken collarbone, but has missed just three games in the three seasons since then. One of them was last year's Week 18 game, where he sat alongside the other Chiefs starters.
Questions about his knee came to light last month when reports surfaced that he played with knee issues last season that are now affecting his trade value, including being held off.
A trade with the Titans was ultimately completed, and a four-year, $76.4 million contract with $55 million guaranteed was signed four days later. The Titans clearly believed they didn't need to worry too much about the knee.
The Chiefs probably would have liked to keep Snead, but they faced a tight salary cap sheet after winning their second straight Super Bowl. The team was able to retain one of its star free agents, Chris Jones, for an extended period, but Snead ultimately received the franchise tag and permission to seek a trade.
Snead was rated the No. 30 cornerback out of 127 players in the NFL by Pro Football Focus last season, and his biggest play of the season came in the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens, when he made a touchdown-scoring shot from cornerback. It was time to decide. Zai Flowers' arm. Snead will now join a Titans team that is undergoing a makeover following the firing of head coach Mike Vrabel and the hiring of his replacement, Brian Callahan.
