Cape business owners can get tips on how to prepare their summer marketing ideas at a March 27 forum featuring Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll and top officials from the province's Department of Travel and Tourism.
Paul Niedesbicki, CEO of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, called the forum an opportunity for business owners to best position themselves for success this summer. Cape is a major player.
“Seventy cents of every dollar we make on the Cape comes from travel and tourism in one form or another,” he said.
Niedzwiecki said the Cape region's tourism economy is second only to Boston's, employing 12,000 people and generating more than $180 million a year in state and local taxes.
He will be one of the speakers at the forum and will talk about the new brand, which is a big part of the chamber's marketing and promotion strategy. The new logo, slogan (Cape Cod. Truly Yours) and color scheme were unveiled at a chamber event held at Pelham House Resort on February 28th.
“We're going to tighten up how we do that and what our marketing strategy is going to be,” Niedzbicki said Thursday. We will also discuss the current state of the Cape economy in relation to seasonal activities.
The chamber is working with Zaltico, a company that collects data on visitors and visitation patterns by season, geography and type for marketing purposes and other purposes.
Niedzwiecki said Zaltiko has information that shows what happens on Cape Cod throughout the seasons, the number of tourists and residents who visit at different times, and specific events in the spring and fall.
Lieutenant Governor Driscoll, a former Salem mayor for 14 years, will lead the show and talk about promoting tourism and travel in the state.
Kate Fox, executive director of the Massachusetts Department of Travel and Tourism, talks about her agency and the work being done there.
The forum will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Hyannis. To register, visit https://capecodma.simpleviewcrm.com/webapi/rsvp/v2/?action=details&noredirect=1&eventId=1486.
