Boston – Texas Tech's men's team earned the program's first indoor NCAA track and field title, scoring 50.5 points during the three-day championships held at The Track at New Balance in Boston. The Red Raiders are the second Big 12 program to win an indoor national championship and his second in three seasons (Texas, 2022).
Three other Big 12 programs posted top-10 finishes. The BYU women's team finished seventh with 28 points, and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls tied for eighth with 27 points. The Cowboys are tied for 7th place with 23 points.
On Saturday, Terrence Jones defended his title in the men's 60-meter dash (6.54), with teammate Dondre Swint taking second place, with a big showing for the Red Raiders. Jones won the men's 200 meters with a facility record time of 20.23 seconds.
Caleb Dean won gold in the men's 60m hurdles in 7.56 seconds. He is the first hurdler from the conference to win an NCAA title in 14 years.
For the TTU women, Ruta Rasman won the triple jump with a jump of 14.47 meters.
Iowa State's Sydney Willits won gold in the women's long jump on Friday with a jump of 6.74 meters. She is the first Cyclone to win a national championship title in this event.
The conference won both distance medley relays, with the Oklahoma State Cowboys defending the title with a facility record time of 9:25.24 and the BYU women winning in 10:51.42. This was the Cougars' second DMR title in four seasons (2021).
Leo Neugebauer of Texas won the U.S. men's heptathlon title with a personal best score of 6,347. His score also surpassed the facility's record of 5,903 points.
The 12 silver medalists include OSU's Taylor Roe (women's 5,000 meters) and Vila Cepkirui (women's mile).
