A leader in electric vehicles Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has launched several video game initiatives over the years, but C.O. Elon Musk's A love of video games.
Tesla owners may be getting access to a new competitive video game feature.
what happened: Tesla is one of the leaders in electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and its Superchargers are available to Tesla owners, but in recent years have opened up to other automakers.
Tesla owners may soon have a new reason to head to their local Supercharger station instead of charging their cars at home.
Available Games “Beach Buggy Race” Teslarati reported that local leaderboards may soon be available at Supercharger stations.
According to the report, which cited release notes for the “Not a Tesla App,” Tesla users will be able to take part in special races in the game and compete for spots on leaderboards at Supercharger locations.
According to the report, Tesla's release notes read, “Record your fastest lap at a Supercharger near you! Drive to a Supercharger and compete in special Beach Buddy Racing races, then challenge other players to record your fastest time on the leaderboard.”
Leaderboards will be rolling out in the US in the latest update, while other updates focus on security and hot weather improvements.

Why is this important: Video games and streaming platforms that can be played in Tesla vehicles are among the features that could make getting to a charging spot faster than just sitting in a parked vehicle.

The new video game features are another way Tesla is improving functionality inside its electric vehicles.
