SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A suspect wanted in connection with a mass shooting inside Springfield Science and Technology High School (Sci-Tech) in March turned himself in Tuesday.
According to Springfield Police Spokesman Ryan Walsh, 20. Chants Dudley The Chicopee suspect allegedly broke into Science and Technology High School with a gun on March 11. Dudley allegedly used the gun to hit the victim in the head and fired one shot through the window.
Mr. Dudley was out on bail on separate firearms charges during the September 2022 incident at the former Eastfield Mall. Springfield Police have issued an arrest warrant for Dudley on the following charges:
- Discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
- Assault and shelling with dangerous weapons
- Malicious destruction of property over $1200
- Bringing firearms into school
- Possession of a firearm without a permit
- Carrying a loaded firearm without a permit
- Armed intrusions and daytime intrusions against felons leave people in fear.
Dudley appeared in court on Tuesday and will be held without the right to bail until a dangerousness hearing on Thursday.
The investigation revealed that Chantz Dudley, along with his father, Dana Dudley, Josiah Livingston, and a girl, attempted to enter the school after being asked to leave by a teacher. . During the altercation, one of the suspects brandished a gun and a disturbance broke out.
