E3 may be over, but Summer Game Fest is alive and well and will return on June 7, 2024, with a live and livestreamed show at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.
Summer Game Fest 2024 will be a “cross-platform live showcase of game announcements, trailers, and more.”Details about who will be there and what they will perform have not yet been revealed, after all, there must be some surprises, but the show will run for two hours and the event's founder and as a host jeff keley In other words, it provides a “showcase of what's coming next in video games.”
The excitement at Summer Game Fest is astounding. For nearly 30 years, E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) has been North America's preeminent video game exhibition and everyone's favorite show. However, its dominance began to decline in the mid-2010s due to a combination of rising costs, the growing popularity of live streaming, and the emergence of more consumer-focused events such as PAX and, of course, Summer Game Fest .
Attempts to open the show to the public failed to turn its fortunes around. Major publishers began pulling out, and the 2020 event was canceled entirely due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Online E3 was held in his 2021 year, but 2022 also failed, and organizers had promised his 2023 return, but that too was eventually canceled. Finally, at the end of 2023, E3 ended for good.
Although Summer Game Fest takes place around the same time as previous E3s, this is a very different kind of event, as an intensive, consumer-facing exhibition meant to blow right into gamers' eyes from the start. It had been planned. As someone who remembers the early excitement of E3 (I wasn't able to attend, but read about it avidly in magazines and forums), while there's an element of sadness at the end of E3, I think Summer Game Fest was an important event. There is no doubt that it is an event. Much more suited to the very online world that gamers currently live in.
Taking place immediately after Summer Game Fest, Day of the Devs: SGF Edition will showcase “more than a dozen amazing games from game developers from a variety of backgrounds.” I would appreciate it if you could clear your calendar for that day.
If you're in Los Angeles on the big day and want to attend the show, tickets will be available to purchase from Ticketmaster on May 7th. If not, you can watch the live streaming on your preferred platform. Details on how and where to watch online as the big event approaches.
