(Absecon) Atlantic County Democratic Party Chairman Michael Suleiman spoke out against state Sen. Vince Polistina in an appearance on the Don Williams radio show last Friday aimed at overhauling Atlantic City's government structure. They are calling for the bill to be made public, and Sen. Polistina agrees. Exists.
“For nearly a year, rumors have been circulating about a secret bill poised to dismantle key aspects of Atlantic City governance,” Suleiman said. “Last week, Sen. Polistina said his proposed bill would remove four City Council members and replace them with non-resident appointees without input from Atlantic City residents. We owe it to our community to bring this elusive bill to the public quickly and allow for a thorough public debate about Atlantic City's future.”
Last winter, Sen. Polistina announced his intention to share the draft bill with the Atlantic City Mayor and City Council. However, City Council Vice President Kareem Shabazz confirmed that the City Council had not received a copy of the bill.
“At a time when the public is resisting efforts to water down public records laws, the suppression of important legislative details only fuels skepticism within the government,” Suleiman said. “Influential politicians know what this bill is about, but Atlantic City residents are in the dark.Senator Polistina needs to address this issue immediately by introducing the bill without delay. Have to.”
