The Student Government Association (SGA) held its spring induction ceremony Wednesday afternoon. During the ceremony, several new members of the incoming administration for the 2024-2025 school year were sworn in.
The induction ceremony began with remarks from SGA co-counsel Abby Hayworth and Ray Kinsel.
Mr. Kinsel welcomed attendees to the ceremony and thanked several individuals who contributed to the success of this year's Senate, including Mr. Anand Mali, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Mr. Roan Royer Engle, Vice President for Student Affairs. expressed his intention.
Mr. Hayworth reflected on the accomplishments of the executive branch and thanked President Joseph Gassensmith for his leadership within the branch.
“The executive team, under the leadership of President Gassensmith, has completed multiple projects that expand student awareness of student government,” Hayworth said. “This includes a new bus shelter in McKinley, two bike racks and an expansion of the blue light emergency system.”
Hayworth also thanked Vice President Monet Lindstrand for her legislative leadership and success in “continuing to advocate for the needs of students.”
“Under her leadership, the Legislature achieved numerous garden improvements, SGA table events and an increase in the number of senators,” she said.
Lindstrand then filed a Senate order that was purchased by SGA throughout the year. The order “recognizes the passion and hard work of individuals, organizations, and events at Ball State University.”
She recognized the Ball State Daily News, Ball Bearings Magazine, the Ball State Dance Marathon, and the German Club.
Following the Senate's order, the ceremony moved to the recognition of senators and ministers. The award winners are as follows.

- Rookie of the Year: Senator Chelsea Murdoch
- Chair of the Year: Senator Hunter Case
- Dynamic Duo: Casey Rockel & Skylar Ellis, Brenna Large & Monet Lindstrand
- Cabinet of the Year Award: Senator Peyton Male
- Outstanding Community Service: Off-Campus Caucus
- Caucus of the Year: College Caucus
- Committee of the Year: Student Services Committee
- Board Member of the Year: President Joseph Gassensmith
- Administrator Award: James Lowe, Vice President of Facilities Planning and Management
At the conclusion of the recognition portion of the ceremony, graduating members were recognized for their contributions to the SGA, certificates were presented, and Lindstrand administered the oath to the returning SGA senators.
Interim President Brenna Large began the 2024-2025 swearing-in by swearing in Senator Shaina Miller as the new interim president for the coming year.
Treasurer Isaac Redford swore in Senator Casey Lockell as the new Secretary of the Treasury, and Chief Administrator Taylor Perry swore in Senator Hunter Case as the new Chief Administrator.
Before being sworn in as the new Vice President, Mr. Lindstrand reflected on his years at SGA and thanked various Cabinet members for their hard work and support throughout his administration.
“For me, one of the most important things to take away from any experience is the personal connection, and I am grateful to have had this experience tenfold in student government,” Lindstrand said. Told.
Gassensmith also spoke a few words before swearing in Noah Poole as the new president. He thanked his chief of staff, Katrina Lemming, for keeping him “sane” over the past year, Lindstrand, who was a “solid vice presidential candidate,” and the rest of his executive team.
He also reflected on what he learned throughout his eight semesters at SGA.
“True leadership is not about titles, accolades, or accomplishments. It's about the character we embody and the positive change we strive to create in the world,” Gassensmith said. “It’s about living your values every day: integrity, gratitude, social responsibility, and charity.”
After being sworn in, Mr. Poole gave a short speech expressing his gratitude for being elected and sworn into this position and expressing his gratitude for what the incoming administration will accomplish at Ball State University during the 2024-2025 academic year. expressed excitement.
