update [Fri 10th May, 2024 11:00 BST]: And it was done! The Strong Museum has revealed that Resident Evil, Asteroids, Myst, Ultima and SimCity are this year's Hall of Fame inductees. The announcement was made yesterday at the museum in Rochester, New York.
Following this news, some of the developers behind these classic titles took to social media to thank fans for their votes.
For example, Richard Garriott, author of Ultima, posted: Hall of Fame Award Photos On Twitter, he thanked the Ultima community (including the long-running Ultima Dragons fan club).
Meanwhile, Robin Miller, co-designer of Myst, tweeted“This is unreal. So many great games and incredibly talented people have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Lando and I are humbled and proud to be among them! ”

original story [Thu 14th Mar, 2024 10:15 BST]: Today, The Strong Museum announced the 12 finalists for the 2024 World Video Game Hall of Fame class.
According to an announcement sent to the press, the museum considered the game's iconic status, longevity, geographic scope, and influence to create a shortlist, selecting the title's collection from thousands of nominations. I collected it.
The oldest game to appear on the list is Atari's asteroid (released in arcades in 1979), the most recent being Activision's 2005 rhythm game guitar hero Used video game stores were filled with countless plastic guitars.

If you would like to vote for your favorite, please do so in the Player's Choice poll. The top three matches in player voting will count as one vote, in addition to other ballots submitted by members of the International Selection Advisory Committee (comprised of journalists and academics).
Voting is being accepted until March 21st. The final inductees will be announced at the Strong Museum on Thursday, May 9 at 10:30 a.m. ET.
