There have been multiple accusations made on social media in Southeast Texas, but the cases have not gone to court.
BEAUMONT, Texas — A travel agency in Beaumont, southeast Texas, is being sued for allegedly failing to make travel arrangements after taking money from clients.
One South Carolina customer decided to sue her.
According to the lawsuit, obtained by 12News, Traveluxe Official, owned by Emily Lockhardt-Farley, specializes in creating dream vacation itineraries.
Final court documents state that Rockhard Furry breached contracts with customers in South Carolina, and there have been similar allegations on social media in southeast Texas, but those cases have not yet gone to trial.
According to the lawsuit filed in the 136th District Civil Court, a local travel agency took an $80,557 deposit for a luxury getaway to Italy, but a South Carolina customer was forced to cancel and, according to the contract, should have received a refund of the deposit.
Lockhard Farley told her in writing that she would refund the money in four installments, but only about $10,000 was actually paid back. The client then called in an attorney and sued for the remaining $70,000, but a judge ultimately ruled in her favor and ordered her to pay.
The judge also added a further $140,000 in fines for violating consumer protection laws.
