South Korean electric vehicle (EV) charger maker SK Signet Inc. said Tuesday that it has built an enhanced cybersecurity system for its EV chargers with Fescaro, an automotive software (SW) and security system specialist. Announced.
The two companies investigated the cybersecurity landscape of EV chargers, conducted threat analysis and assessment, and developed countermeasures based on threat priorities.
We have formulated a medium- to long-term security roadmap to respond flexibly to cyber threats.
Considering that EV chargers communicate with vehicles and manage various SW such as payment systems and membership services, the spread of EVs has increased the importance of cybersecurity for chargers.
Fescaro provides optimized automotive cybersecurity solutions that comply with international laws and standards.
SK Signet highlighted that Fescaro's solution is the first in Korea to receive Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 certification from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
To enhance customer convenience and security, SK Signet is also developing the Charger Integrated Support System (CISS).
The system features real-time monitoring and control of the charger and remote execution of over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
