Orlando, Florida – 22 years ago, Mike Simmons left a career in medicine and returned to the restaurant where he first started working.
Now, he's preparing to open the first Tom's Watch Bar location in Florida. It will be located at 8050 International Drive in Orlando's tourist district and is scheduled to open in early April.
Simmons, the brand's operating partner, said Orlando is an ideal location because people visit from all over the country.
“There was no more perfect place for sports fans from across the country to come together to cheer on the winners and mourn the losers than in Orlando and iDrive,” Simmons said in a prepared statement.
The restaurant occupies the top two floors of the Hollywood Plaza Parking Garage.
It features a patio where guests can see most of Orlando's attractions, from rocket launches to Walt Disney World fireworks. He also has two virtual golf bays.
According to the brand's website, Tom's Watch Bar is known for having “all kinds of sports on the go,” and will also feature hundreds of TV screens to watch all kinds of sports.
The restaurant offers wings, burgers, tacos, nachos and more. But Simmons said the most popular menu item is the prime rib dip sandwich on a brioche bun with demi-glace and horseradish cream sauce.
There are currently 11 locations across the U.S., but Tom's Watch Bar is exploring the possibility of adding more restaurants in cities across Florida, including Miami and Tampa. Click here to learn more about the brand and check out our other stores.
