FLINT – The Powers Catholic baseball team got off to a strong start to the 2024 season Thursday.
The Chargers defeated Kearsley 9-0 as Grant Garman and Fisher Hendershot combined for a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts.
Six players had hits for the Chargers, with Nick Stimac scoring two RBIs and Isaac Sturges driving in three runs.
Powers just reached the Division 2 state semifinals last year.

Molly Reyes scored four goals and Anna Borisenko added three along with Aubrey Wahlberg to lead Grand Blanc. Ariva Tate, Audrey Vanvarin and Sophie Piper each scored two goals for the Bobcats.

Macy Freeman scored all three goals for Lakeville, giving her 99 career goals.
