CHEYENNE, Wyo. — This weekend, hundreds of attendees roamed from room to room at the Red Lion Hotel, trying out hundreds of games and brimming with magical, medieval and sci-fi settings during the Cheyenne Gaming Convention. Ta.
The Wyoming Gaming Library, a Cheyenne-based nonprofit organization, hosts the competition each year. This year's gathering attracted about 30 vendors selling a variety of merchandise, including vintage video games, tabletop games and board games.
On Saturday, tournament organizers and sponsors hosted competitions for the fighting video game “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate,” the card game “Magic the Gathering,” the board game “Catan,” and the tabletop miniature wargame “Warhammer 40,000.”
Just over 800 people had attended the convention as of early Saturday afternoon, said Wyoming Gaming Library founder and board chairman Brad Koch. Koch expects more than 1,000 people to be at the venue by the end of the event on Sunday.
