Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge will write and executive produce the TV version of one of the most popular video games of all time.
Prime Video has ordered an adaptation of Tomb Raider, a massive game series that follows the adventures of archaeologist Lara Croft as she explores the world in search of lost artifacts. The cast for the series has not yet been announced.
Phoebe is no stranger to action and adventure stories based around archaeologists, having starred in Indiana Jones and Dial of Destiny. In a statement after it was announced that she would be writing the latest Lara Croft film, she said: Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life, and I'm incredibly honored to be able to bring it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as it does to many people, and I can't wait to go on this adventure. Butts and all. ”
Amazon MGM Studios chief Jennifer Salke added: “Phoebe has a lifelong love affair with Lara Croft, and very soon, we will be conducting a worldwide search to find out who will play this iconic role. We’re about to start and I really can’t wait,” he added.

The Tomb Raider game series has shipped over 95 million copies and has been adapted into various films over the years. Angelina Jolie famously played this role in 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and her sequel Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life was released in 2003. I did. There is currently no release date for Prime Video's Tomb Raider.
