Owensboro native Seth Fulkerson continues his creative pursuits in 2022 by pursuing his passion for video game development. After being laid off from the mortgage industry earlier that year, he started a software development company, Seedy Eye Software.
As an independent video game developer, he recently released his first commercial title, Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore. He said the game pays homage to the CD-ROM style games of the early 1990s.
“Right after starting the company, I signed a publishing deal with Limited Run Games for this project. I was very fortunate,” Fulkerson said. “This game plays like a modern version of the original game, including completely hand-drawn background artwork and over 40 minutes of fully voiced animated animation.”
Fulkerson served as the game's director, designer, programmer, writer, and overall project manager, collaborating with several talented artists and animators. He said the response from gamers has been overwhelmingly positive, far exceeding his expectations.
“I develop retro-style video games with a unique art style and sense of humor,” he said. “I design games to be enjoyed by players of all ages and skill levels. In addition to developing my own games, I support other independent developers. Game development is It’s my passion and my calling, and I’m so lucky to be able to do it for a living.”
Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore is currently available on PC and all modern video game consoles: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X. Visit arzette.com for links to each version.
Gamers can also search for Arzette on their systems of choice and, for a limited time, purchase the physical version of the game here. To learn more about Fulkerson and his work, follow @thedopster on X or visit his website here.
