BELLAIRE, Ohio (April 25, 2024) – Ohio Turnpike customers drove approximately 648.7 million miles on toll roads in the first quarter of 2024, an increase of 1.1% compared to the same period last year.
Increase in vehicle mileage
Passenger vehicle mileage increased by 1.9% to 364,974,303 miles. Commercial trucks increased by 0.2% to 283,683,999 units. Passenger cars accounted for 56.3% of total distance traveled, and commercial vehicles accounted for 43.7%.

The total number of vehicles traveling on the 241-mile Ohio Turnpike, designated as Interstate 80, Interstate 90, and Interstate 76, increased by 2.1% in the first quarter of 2024. The total number of units sold was 11,072,584 units.
Passenger vehicles completed 8,075,720 trips, an increase of 2.2%. Commercial trucks completed 2,996,864 trips, an increase of 1.9%. Passenger cars and commercial vehicles accounted for 72.9% and 27.1% of the traffic, respectively.
EZ pass Use rise
Total through the first quarter of 2024 EZ pass Ohio Turnpike passenger and commercial vehicle customer utilization was 76.6%, an increase of 0.3% compared to the same period in 2023.
EZ pass Usage by passenger vehicle customers was 65.4%, an increase of 1%. Commercial truck customers increased by 0.2%, at 91%.
