Oakland University in Michigan recently made headlines after its men's basketball team defeated Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
However, the Golden Grizzlies are also showing dazzling play in the ballpark. And this game suffocated another Bluegrass State team on a cold and blustery Saturday afternoon in Rochester, Michigan.
In the bottom of the fourth inning of a Horizon League matchup, Northern Kentucky's Colton Kucera hit a deep drive to left-center field. Oakland left fielder John Lowinger tracked the ball and hit it with his glove. This prevented the ball from going over the fence and becoming a home run, but Lowinger was unable to catch the ball.
However, he bounced the ball toward the field and center fielder Reggie Bassey made a diving catch on the warning track to earn an out.

As Johnny Cain of Bally Sports Detroit said, this could be the play of the year in college baseball so far. The better the catch, the better.
Bussey doesn't just do it with a glove. The sophomore is hitting .313 with an .855 OPS and 26 stolen bases this season. Lowinger also had a good year with the Golden Grizzlies, with a batting average of .301 and an OPS of .876.
Oakland won the game 7-3 and took two of three games from Northern Kentucky in the weekend series. At 11-7, the Golden Grizzlies (21-18 overall) are one game behind North (24-15) in the Horizon League standings.
