Companies are currently finding ways to push AI into almost every corner of our lives, for better or for worse. Nvidia was formally a GPU company, but it has fully transitioned into becoming an AI company. Nvidia is testing ways to incorporate generative AI into video games, according to a new report.
Now, Nvidia stands to benefit tremendously from the AI trend. Some of the world's biggest companies are buying Nvidia's GPUs in bulk to train their AI models. This is the driving force that made his Nvidia his $2 trillion company. In fact, the company has just announced his Blackwell processor. These are his latest chips from Nvidia that will power next-generation AI models.
Nvidia is testing tools to add generative AI to video games
Generative AI has impacted the video game industry in a very small way. AI tools could potentially be used to assist developers with their coding. It's not that important, but AI is poised to play an even bigger role in video games in the future.
A game developer conference just happened and I saw some cool stuff there. One notable announcement was from his Nvidia. The company exhibited AI digital human tools. These can be used to voice and animate his NPCs in-game using generative AI. It also provides character dialogue. These tools were introduced through a technology demo called. secret protocol. It was created in collaboration with gaming startup InWorld. If this name sounds familiar, InWorld also partnered with Microsoft in November 2023 for much the same purpose.
The technology demo features a conversation with an NPC. NPCs react to the main character's lines, and their reactions, movements, and voices are generated in real time by AI.

The clip below shows an example of a technology called Audio2Face. This is a technology that uses AI to make character models speak by lip-syncing. So this could be very useful for studios who need to translate a game or redo a line. This can potentially save you time by eliminating the hassle of reviving your character's lips.
Another clip shows an upcoming MMO called World of Jade Dynasty. This is another showcase of Audio2Face technology.
In both videos, it's clear that the audio is generated by AI. Their voices have the same lifeless, inhuman tone heard in AI voice generators. Hopefully, studios using this technology will hire human voice actors to record their lines, rather than having them generated entirely by AI. We'll just have to see.
