Chris Dumont (Class of 1996), director of private banking markets at Bank of America, received the NJBIZ Financial Leadership Award.
Chris Dumont ’96, a private banking markets executive at Bank of America and a Master of Business Administration graduate from Rider University; NJBIZ March Financial Leader Award. This award recognizes New Jersey financial executives who contribute to the success of their companies and communities.
This year's awards program began with an open nomination period, inviting nominees in the categories of banking, corporate, investment, professional and blockchain. The winners were then selected by an independent panel of judges with experience in the finance sector. Selections were made based on the nominees' professional achievements and their involvement in the industry and community.
“I am humbled and proud to receive this recognition from my peers,” Dumont said. “I consider myself part of a leadership team that exists across the state of New Jersey, and as a team we do a lot of great work together.”
Dumont has spent nearly his entire career with Bank of America, working in retail operations in traditional banking centers before moving to the brokerage and, since 2006, has been with Bank of America Private Bank, providing personalized service to high net worth individuals, families and institutional investors.
“The thing I enjoy most about my job is helping people achieve the goals they set for themselves,” he says. “I get a sense of satisfaction from helping people who report through me to their clients get from point A to point B.”
At Bank of America, Dumont is a member of the New Jersey Hispanic-Latino Business Council. He also serves as Co-Director of the Black Professionals Group of the Private Bank Diversity and Inclusion Council. “These are areas that I am passionate about and offer great opportunities to learn from them,” he says. “I have personally grown from the experience of being part of our great employee organization, and I am fortunate to be able to help others within the organization do the same.”
Outside of work, Dumont serves on the board of the Bobby Campbell Lacrosse Foundation, which raises funds for underprivileged students to participate in lacrosse. The foundation is named in honor of Dumont's high school lacrosse coach. “He was the epitome of leadership, and I looked up to him,” Dumont said. “Even though my playing days have come to an end, I still enjoy being a part of an organization that means so much to me.”
A native of Princeton, Dumont lives with his family in Pennington, N.J. He earned his bachelor's degree in sociology from the College of Wooster and enrolled in Rider's Master of Business Administration program.
“I found the on-campus experience at Rider to be extremely beneficial,” he says. “The skills I learned through that environment, such as curiosity, collaboration, and communication, have served me well throughout my career.”
