Fresh from reviving classics like Star Wars: Dark Forces, Turok 3, and Quake 2, Nightdive Studios has announced its next revival. And it's a game no one expected.
You'd be forgiven if you've never heard of PO'ed. It was first developed and published by Any Channel Inc. for his 3DO in 1995, and a PlayStation port was released in 1996 courtesy of the now-defunct publisher Accolade. In this game, you play a chef trying to escape from another world. It's a video game straight out of the mid-90s!
Here is the official blurb, courtesy of Nightdive:
Inspired by the generational hits Doom and Quake, the original PO is a flashy, action-packed, fast-paced, explosive, ridiculous, bloody, smelly, delicious, first-person action game. It took gaming to new heights. Rich and ultra-violent 3D gameplay. You play as a chef who crashes onto an alien planet infested with extraterrestrial enemies, and uses a menu of “household” weapons to serve dishes that are best served cold (confused (In case you're wondering, cooking means revenge).
PO'ed: Definitive Edition is an updated version of the 1995 first-person space shooter game, coming soon to PC and consoles. Nightdive says the Definitive Edition features updated visuals, anti-aliasing, improved frame rates, redefined controls, and up to 4K 144 FPS performance.
Below is a list of key features of PO'd: Definitive Edition from Nightdive.
- Plate full of quality of life features to enhance gameplay and fix bugs present in the original game (can be toggled off)
- Shout out with widescreen support for HUD and other onscreen graphics
- Delicious new difficulty mode added for hardcore players
- 15 mouth-watering achievements
- Supports English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish localizations
- Complete freedom! Cruise on foot or fly with a jetpack through 25 wild 3D environments
PO'ed: Definitive Edition will be released “in the very near future” for Windows PC via Steam and GOG, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch.
