When did NFL free agency begin?
NFL free agency began last Wednesday at 4pm ET, which also marks the beginning of the NFL's new league year. Players and teams can now sign contracts.

Cowboys LB Leighton Vander Esch medically retires, reports say
#Cowboys Starting LB Leighton Vander Esch will medically retire from soccer after a six-year career. Vander Esch, who had 557 tackles in 71 games, was a Pro Bowler before a neck injury ended his career.

Report: Bill to make Taron Johnson the NFL's highest-paid nickelback

Several teams are interested in Williams. Williams is one of the biggest unsigned free agents.
Former Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams is scheduled to visit the Jets, Panthers and Steelers this week, according to sources. Williams arrives Monday night and will be the first to leave.
The Chargers also traded WR Keenan Allen and are interested in bringing Williams back.
Reunion: #charger Officials say the team is expected to sign former second-round pick and veteran LB Denzel Perryman to a one-year contract. He was in San Diego and LA from 2015 to 2020, but is now back.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have acquired Justin Fields from Chicago, officials confirmed. He is joining the Steelers to learn from Russell Wilson as a backup.
Wilson will start in Pittsburgh, with Fields supporting him.

Former 49ers LB Oren Burks has signed a one-year contract worth up to $2.5 million with the Philadelphia Eagles, sources say. Burks was a standout special teams player and started five games for SF in 2023.
Seattle needed help at linebacker after losing both Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks to free agency.

Keenan Allen was on the phone with his agent, Joby Branyon, when the Bears called him Thursday in the process of finalizing a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers. Allen said the Jets and Texans are the two teams the Chargers would allow him to explore in a trade.
of #Panthers They recently restructured LB Shaq Thompson's contract, reducing his base salary for this season to $3.1 million ($1.7 million guaranteed), freeing up approximately $3 million in cap space.
So while Carolina is undergoing a roster overhaul, Thompson, the team's first-round pick in 2015, will be back.
#49ers FB Kyle Juszczyk's new contract reduces his base salary in 2024 and 2025, effectively making him a new two-year contract worth $9.1 million. He earns $4 million in new salary this season, and San Francisco clears nearly $4 million in 2024 cap space.
