Suddenly, the internet exploded. Again. Happens roughly every Tuesday and Thursday. This time, One target of the ire was Neil Druckmann, producer and co-director of The Last of Us.The CEO of Naughty Dog recently said that what's next is going to redefine the world of video games as we know it. But it looks like Sony was wrong.
Don't get drunk
The creator clarified that he has never behaved (at least in public) in the arrogant manner exhibited in the interview published by Sony. The studio's next game could “redefine mainstream gaming perceptions”. Druckmann tweeted directly from his account. “That's not at all what I said.”.
“While editing answers for a recent interview with Sony, Unfortunately some of my words, context and intent have been lost.“I added the full answer without cuts. What's surprising is… indeed, Druckmann never said such a thing, and it was completely fabricated by a news writer (when not at ChatGPT).
This is a very unique summary of the answer, and after the success of the series “The Last of Us” and its two video games, “People outside the video game world are also looking to us and waiting to see what we're going to release next. I'm really excited to see the reaction to what we're making.“.
Obviously, Druckmann doesn't want to point a finger at Sony and say, “But why lie?”, but his intention is clear. Surely, a big company would think it would be a good idea to leave out the literal statement and add their own phrase. And it's not. It's not like they're just trying to explain the creators' anxiety about the reception of their new games. The egoism of those who believe that they alone can redesign the world of video games. That's the way it seems to be, whether it's Sony or anyone else.
