The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) has announced that former Barclays cybersecurity director Richard Horne will become its new chief executive officer in the fall.
Mr Horne will succeed Lindy Cameron, who has been appointed British High Commissioner to India.
He joins NCSC from PwC UK where he is currently Chair of the Cyber Security Practice. His new role will see him lead the UK's cyber resilience and help shape the country's security approach to future technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
Anne Keast-Butler, director of GCHQ, which oversees the NCSC, said: “I am delighted that Richard Horne will be the next CEO of NCSC.
“He brings a wealth of experience working with leading companies and organizations to help them understand and manage cybersecurity and respond when incidents occur.
“Richard’s experience will enable NCSC to continue to put cybersecurity on the board agenda and develop world-leading partnerships to address the cybersecurity threats facing the UK.”
Prior to joining PwC, Mr. Horn was a managing director of cybersecurity at Barclays.
In 2011, he was seconded to the Cabinet Office to help develop the government's first cybersecurity strategy.
“I am honored to serve as CEO of NCSC,” he said.
“In the seven years since its establishment, NCSC has repeatedly demonstrated its world-class understanding of technology and unrivaled knowledge of the cyber threats facing the UK.
“I am extremely honored and excited to lead a globally recognized organization, its world-class professionals, and leaders into the future, while helping ensure the fulfillment of our mission.”
