NAB is urging Australian small and medium-sized businesses to strengthen their cyber security. He also offers his 1-year free cybersecurity software to corporate customers to help strengthen the security of small and medium-sized businesses.
This follows a NAB study late last year which found that small and medium-sized businesses are one of the least cyber-prepared sectors. It found that only 15% of small businesses have extensive training on fraud and cybersecurity risks. Four out of 10 said they had not received much training.
NAB has agreed to partner with global cybersecurity company CrowdStrike to support small and medium-sized businesses. This offer includes his 1 year free subscription to CrowdStrike 'Falcon Go'. NAB says this will support and strengthen small and medium-sized businesses' defenses against ransomware, data breaches and cyber threats.

NAB Chief Security Officer Sandro Bucchianelli said more needs to be done to protect small and medium-sized businesses.
“The number of cyber-attacks continues to rise year on year. It is worrying that small and medium-sized businesses, which make up 97% of all Australian businesses, are one of the least cyber-prepared sectors.”

1 cybercrime report every 6 minutes
In the 2022-23 financial year, the Australian Signals Bureau received one cybercrime report every six minutes. The average cost of each incident to small businesses was estimated to be A$71,600.
