Players of MLB The Show 24 are reporting that the Switch version is prone to frequent crashes, especially in the popular Diamond Dynasty mode.
Numerous long threads on the game's official forums and Reddit's MLB The Show page are filled with players reporting that the game is continually crashing.
In the Reddit thread “Can anyone play on Switch right now?” Reddit user GTI_88 said: [Diamond Dynasty] not at all. The game crashes completely every time I try to start the program the first moment. I tried it last night and tried it again this morning. ”
User NewYorkMets22 added, “Yeah, mine isn't working yet either.” “It's very frustrating. I tried it yesterday and today periodically throughout the day. This allowed me to create a team and go to the DD main page, but when I press A to complete the tutorial. When it gets to the point where it's supposed to load, the game crashes and says a software error has occurred.”
User mtob99 replied, “I bought it yesterday and only some things are working.” “I think it's not just Jeter's content or conquests, but certain moments that cause the game to crash. The game requires an update to work.”
PJ O'Reilly, a writer for Nintendo Life and Pure Xbox, also mentioned the issues with X. “It’s not working properly at all right now and we haven’t had any communication about it,” he explained. “Most modes will take you to the Switch home screen as soon as you select them.”
Many players also pointed out that the game doesn't work in a thread called “Switch Crashes” on the official MLB The Show forums.
User addybojangles said, “Twice in the middle of the game, the game completely crashed, then I went back to the dashboard and the game quit completely.”
“Similar problem,” Nuclear Beanie replied. “It crashed 5 times during my Conquest game. It was very frustrating and I couldn't play or improve my team affinity. I've done all the troubleshooting and nothing works. I hope they resolve this issue now.”
“This has happened to me several times, each time during a Conquest match,” ArtVanlay90 added. “Every time I score, I feel worse because I feel like the longer the game goes on, the more likely I am to get kicked to the dashboard. So I want to finish the game as quickly as possible.”
“Can't legally play any modes,” user burnsy2191 said. “It crashes as soon as I try to do anything.”
Another thread called Nintendo Switch MLB the Show 24 Crash features another group of players specifically identifying issues with Diamond Dynasty mode.
So far, the only thing that seems to be aware of this issue is a message from a developer posted in this thread.
It says, “Thank you for your report.” “We are aware of this issue and are actively working on a fix, but we do not yet have an estimate for the fix.”
MLB The Show was released on Tuesday and is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
As is the case with previous recent entries, the standard version of MLB The Show 24, developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment's San Diego studio, is included on Xbox Game Pass.
