You no longer need an expensive Apple Vision Pro to use AR/VR on a plane.
Meta announced Monday that it has discovered a way to recreate one of the exciting features of Apple Vision Pro, VR (and AR), on a plane.
The new Travel Mode works with both Quest 2 and 3 and lets you watch movies, play games, and use apps on your headset while you fly. Mehta said the new mode will also allow passengers to connect to in-flight Wi-Fi and free video. If there are any apps or games you want to use, you need to make sure they don't require Wi-Fi to run. Otherwise, you will have to purchase internet, which is not free, during your trip.
This mode is tuned to take into account the movement of the airplane you're riding in, and will eventually be implemented on trains as well. Quest headset[設定]of[実験的機能]You have to opt in to this feature in the section, and then you can toggle it on and off in quick settings. The headset may even be able to recognize that you're on a plane and turn it on right then and there. However, changing modes may require a reboot.
Meta has also partnered with Lufthansa to provide custom mixed reality content on provided Quest 3 headsets when traveling in the company's business class suites. This is similar to how other airlines (like Alaska) hand out small standalone video players, but much better.
“The Lufthansa Group has already been using augmented reality in training and marketing for some time, and in this test case we are pioneering this innovative entertainment product. Through our cooperation with Meta, Together, these two innovative market leaders will open up the next chapter in in-flight entertainment and offer our guests an entirely new experience,” said Bjorn Becker, Head of Future Intercontinental Experiences at Lufthansa Group. mentioned in.
