Back in November, Mark Hamill told fans at Fan Expo in San Francisco that he had no intention of playing Gotham's Clown Prince.
Despite being considered by many to be the greatest Joker of all time, Hamill believed he could only play the role opposite Kevin Conroy's Batman. Conroy, who provided the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman in several projects, passed away in November 2022.
However, Hamill's next game “ multiversus. It turns out that Kevin Conroy was actually the voice of Batman in a fighting game before his death. Perhaps for this reason, Hamill returned to the role of Joker in the game, taking exception to his previous statements.
For those unfamiliar, MultiVersus is a free-to-play platform fighter in the same vein as Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series. The game features an ever-growing lineup of popular characters based on Warner Bros.' Discovery series, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Black Adam, and the Joker (DC). Shaggy and Velma (Scooby-Doo). Bugs Bunny, the Tasmanian Devil aka Taz, and Marvin the Martian (Looney Tunes). Arya Stark (Game of Thrones); Tom and Jerry (Tom and Jerry); Finn the Man and Jake the Dog (Adventure Time). Steven Universe and Garnet (Steven Universe). The Iron Giant (The Iron Giant), LeBron James (Space Jam: A New Legacy). Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith (Rick and Morty). Gizmo and Stripes (Gremlins). and a special original creature named Reindog.
Warner Bros. Games has revealed the Joker as its latest playable character, confirming that he will be voiced by Mark Hamill. A short teaser trailer has been released and you can hear some of Hamill's voice.

multiversus Developed by Player First Games. This free-to-play title was playable in an open beta that ran from July 2022 to June 2023. The game was temporarily shut down after the end of the beta to allow for some technical improvements. One of the biggest changes made is to Unreal Engine 5, which improves the game's visuals and character lighting. The game has also been rebuilt from the ground up to support new netcode to provide a more consistent online play experience.
The game is now almost ready for release on May 28th. The game is free to download on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC and fully supports cross-play and cross-progression.
