Just in time for late spring and summer travel, low-cost carrier Breeze Airways will fly to San Diego next month with the first of five new nonstop flights to major cities in North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Debut at the airport.
The new nonstop service will be spearheaded between Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina, starting April 30th. All remaining nonstop flights to Jacksonville, Fla., Norfolk, Va., Cincinnati and Pittsburgh will begin in early May.
Brees said each flight is seasonal and not available year-round. A Breeze spokesperson said all flights except the Raleigh-Durham route will cease service by the end of August or early September. An end date for the lorry service has not yet been determined.
Breeze Airways is a relatively new airline founded in 2021 by JetBlue founder David Neeleman. Breeze's new destination to San Diego is not currently served by airlines based at San Diego International Airport, but Southwest Airlines will offer weekly nonstop flights to Pittsburgh from June through August this summer. It is scheduled to operate.
With the start of the spring season, Breeze Airways on Wednesday announced a promotional discount of 34 percent off all round-trip base fares booked by 11:59 p.m. PT on Friday. This promotion is valid for travel from March 27th to October 1st of this year.
All new San Diego routes will be operated by Breeze's new Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
Described as a “nice low-cost airline,” Breeze offers three classes of fares, with the more expensive classes including reserved seats and free checked baggage. Breeze does not charge change or cancellation fees, and customers will receive a credit for future use for two years on canceled flights.
In California, Breeze already operates in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Ana (John Wayne Airport) and San Bernardino.
