Budget season continues in local government this week, with both Orange and Chatham commissioners meeting for budget work sessions and Durham City Manager Wanda Page giving her own budget presentation. But the local government board also has other issues on its plate, including updates on Carrboro's development proposal and Chapel Hill's “Complete Community” initiative.
Here's an overview of local government meetings being held this week in Durham, Orange and Chatham counties.
orange county
orange county commissioner We will meet twice this week. Their regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center, and the agenda will include next year's action plan and discussion of capital funding for the Orange County School District. The board will then reconvene for a budget work session in the Whitted Building on Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. Click here for links to both topics.
of Carrboro City Council On the agenda is a public hearing on plans for a three-story residential development at 400 North Greensboro Street. Get the link to the full agenda here.
of chapel hill city council It will be held at the Chapel Hill Public Library on Wednesday, May 22 at 6 p.m. Council members will receive updates on how the town is implementing the Complete Communities Initiative and an overview of ongoing projects at Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation. And that Orange County Board of Education It will be held in the Whitted Building on Monday, May 20th at 7pm, and the agenda will include a discussion of student meals this summer and next year. Click here for the complete agenda.
Chatham and Durham Counties
chatham county commissioner There are several meetings scheduled this week. The first meeting will be held in Pittsboro on Monday, May 20, beginning with a 3 p.m. work session (to receive a budget update), followed by a regular meeting including a public hearing on next year's budget at 6 p.m. Commissioners are also scheduled to hold a public hearing in Siler City on Tuesday, May 21 at 6 p.m. Budget work sessions are also tentatively scheduled for Thursday and Friday, May 23rd and 24th. of Durham City Council I have multiple meetings this week as well. The first event will be on Monday, May 20th at 7 p.m. and will include a presentation by City Manager Wanda Page on next year's budget and five-year capital improvement plan. Town Council will then reconvene for a public hearing on the budget on Thursday, May 23 at 1 p.m. Click here for the agenda for both meetings.
