The Livingston County Health Department (LCHD) is offering health safety consultations and vaccine appointments for those preparing to travel.
This service is available at the LCHD International Travel Clinic located at 2300 E Grand River Avenue, Suite 102, Howell, Michigan. LCHD offers a range of services for those seeking additional health advice regarding their travel itinerary.
The notification from LCHD comes after health officials confirmed an increase in measles cases in Michigan in early 2024, including one from neighboring Oakland County. was.
Consultation services include immunization and medication reviews, and staff can advise you on travel vaccines and medications that are recommended or required for your trip.
Safety counseling is also provided depending on your itinerary, personal medical history, and travel destination. This includes food and water precautions, including insight on foods and drinks to avoid at your destination and medicines to bring in case of illness.
Reservations must be made by calling (517) 546-9850.
LCHD recommends making reservations four to six weeks before departure to allow time for your body to develop an antibody response to the vaccine and receive the multi-dose series.
Participants are responsible for paying the travel consultation fee ($75 per person) and vaccination costs at the time of booking. LCHD does not charge insurance premiums, but will provide receipts for possible insurance reimbursement upon request.
