Lehman, this is WGAL News 8. Thanks, Tom. The Lancaster County Government Service Center will be closed until Monday due to a water leak. The commission canceled today's work session and moved tomorrow's commission meeting to the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center. The leak was discovered Saturday and is still being repaired. News 8 spoke with Lancaster County Commissioner Josh Parsons about why the entire building is still closed when only three of the seven floors are affected. The other floors are basically unaffected, but the main lobby is affected. Uh, uh, the staircases, the fire escapes are affected as well. So we've got to make sure those are safe and secure. Commissioner Parsons
Lancaster County Government Center to close for the rest of the week due to water leak
The Lancaster County Government Center will be closed for the rest of this week due to a water leak over the weekend. A spokesperson said parts of the building and stairwells need to be closed until initial reconstruction work is completed. To avoid disrupting work, the building will remain closed through Monday. Commissioner Josh Parsons said a water pipe burst in a third-floor bathroom Saturday night, damaging the third and second floors and parts of the first floor. Parsons estimated the damage to be in the thousands of dollars. The affected offices, including the Recorder of Deeds, Property Appraiser, Archives, Voter Registration, and Public Defender's offices, will reopen temporarily at alternate locations. Information on those locations has not yet been released. Commissioners moved Wednesday's board meeting to the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center.
