LYNCHBURG, Va. – With a series sweep over Liberty, Louisiana Tech has clinched the 2024 CUSA regular season title. Both DBU and Louisiana Tech will earn a share of the title depending on whether DBU and Louisiana Tech finish with the same conference record. Louisiana Tech (40-15, 18-6 CUSA) earned the series sweep against Liberty (22-31, 11-12 CUSA) after winning both games on Friday night.
Game 1
Tech came out strong, scoring four runs in the first three innings. Dalton Davis hit a two-RBI double, homering Adarius Myers and Michael Ballard. Then, after Liberty's left fielder crashed into the wall, Jorge Corona hit his second career home run, allowing Ethan Bates and Jorge to score. Liberty cut the score to two points on Kane Kepley's home run. Finally, in the sixth inning, Cole McConnell hit an RBI to score Kasten Farr and Tech scored four more runs. Ethan Bates followed with an RBI triple and McConnell scored to put Tech up 6-2. Jorge Corona then hit a two-run bomb into the video board, his second home run of the game. In the eighth and ninth innings, Liberty scored a combined eight runs, tying the game in the bottom of the ninth. Tech's Adarius Meyers had a two-RBI double, Kasten Farr had a two-RBI single, and Tech scored four runs in the 11th inning to finish the game 12-8.
2nd game
Tech continued to score in the second of the doubleheader. The Diamond Dogs scored three runs in the first inning after two heartbreaking errors by Liberty. The Flames countered with a home run in the second inning to make the game 3-1. Grant Comeau scored an RBI with a double to right-center field. In the fourth inning, Michael Ballard's RBI single led to Cole McConnell's sacrifice fly, giving Tech a run and making it 5-1. In the second half of the sixth inning, Tech scored four runs with two RBI hits by Ethan Bates, Jorge Corona, and Michael Ballard. In the 8th inning, Adarius Myers scored an RBI to make the game 10-1.
On this day, Tech pitchers Luke Nichols and Grant Fubka recorded career/season highs in strikeouts. Nichols struck out nine on Friday, walked three batters, and gave up two runs on five hits. Grant Fubka struck out seven and walked three batters Friday, giving up two hits and one run.

Louisiana Tech has secured the No. 1 seed in the CUSA Conference Tournament and will play Wednesday, but a time has not yet been set.
