Overall, the biggest takeaway from this trip is that Disney can create some pretty impressive connections between its games and parks if they put in the effort. Even the tenuously connected Disney Speedstorm could implement some sort of prize system to earn in-game unlockables or overlays on existing rides. And that's before you start thinking about the $1.5 billion stake Disney currently holds in Epic Games, which would include a “persistent universe” within Fortnite.
However, it's still in the early stages of integration, and it's a small touch that's sure to add a new layer of fun to wandering around Disney's parks. If you're an avid fan of these games, it's easy to see why you'll enjoy recreating some of those experiences in real life.
Plus, even if you're not a gamer, immersing yourself in game-like elements can open up new ways to visit the park. Before I went on a treasure hunt at Disney's Dreamlight Valley, it had been years since I had spent a significant amount of time exploring Fantasyland. We had a great time enjoying the company's standard attractions and locations.
Disney's foothold in the gaming field isn't going anywhere. Star Wars alone is likely to keep the company busy for decades to come. With that in mind, I fully expect to see further integrations, both large and small, in the future. One day the entire land could be themed around a game franchise, like Universal did with Super Nintendo World. But for now, the company is just starting small. However, with Disney investing $10 billion in park expansions, including the Magic Kingdom expansion, which is said to be the largest expansion in the park's history, more video game elements could be incorporated. It would be a shock. .
That is wonderful. As we've seen to some extent with Super Nintendo World, Villain-Con: Minion Blast, and even Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, adding gameplay to regular park activities is exciting. It gives you a reason to be brave and stand in line or ride something again to improve your place. You can also spend exciting moments with your family and friends.
We'll have to wait and see how Disney aims to integrate its wide range of titles.
