Ever since Sony's PC and PlayStation 5 co-op shooter Helldivers 2 was released earlier this year, fans have suggested it would be a perfect fit for a Star Wars crossover. Now, one mod team has gone ahead and built just that.
Toasted, a prolific mod content creator, commissioned his mod team to create a Star Wars Clone Wars mod pack for Helldivers 2 and published the results in video form. @SWBF updated, @StayBombasticand @OzzyOvLD.
Built by modders Kboy and @irastris, this mod pack replaces Helidobar with playable clone troopers from the 501st Legion, including Captain Rex, Commander Cody, and Sergeant Hunter, while the automaton enemies are Separatists. It has been redesigned as a droid. These include the B1 Series Battle Droid, B2 Series Super Battle Droid, and Droideka. The recovery shuttle is also built like a low-altitude assault transport.

Torsted said the mod pack is currently unavailable because the mod doesn't work consistently on all planets or difficulties, “so we want to resolve the issue before removing it.” Ta. However, in the meantime, Toasted plans to release his 501st Legion and other of his mods separately on his Nexus Mods.
Not only does the Star Wars Clone Wars mod give us a glimpse of what a Star Wars themed Helldivers 2 type game would be like, but it also has some eye-catching crossover potential for Helldivers 2 itself. Sony and developer Arrowhead might do well to consider partnering with Disney for an official Star Wars mod, but it's unlikely that it will begin to be released in the wake of the explosive success of Helldivers 2. , and other crossovers that fans have been asking for.
For example, fans have suggested that Helldiver 2 would be perfect for a Warhammer 40,000 crossover, and it's easy to imagine the Helldivers being the Imperial Guard fighting Necrons and Tyranids across the galaxy. Arrowhead boss Johan Pierstedt said Arrowhead has no interest in going the Fortnite route with collaborations that have little meaning within the world they've created. “I would probably be dead if I ever did a fantasy-busting crossover,” Pirestedt said.
However, the world of Helldivers 2 is more than just fun and games. Despite the controversy surrounding Sony's plans to force PC gamers to link their accounts with PSN, the game remains delisted in many countries. Arrowhead was teasing the release of an in-game cape based on the review bombing that Helldivers 2 suffered as a result.
