Lately, there's been a trend of turning some of the best storylines from video games into hugely popular television series.
Following the success of HBO's The Last of Us and Prime Video's Fallout, another iconic game series is being adapted into a TV show.
Amazon announced Tuesday that it is developing a live-action series based on Sega's popular “Like a Dragon” game, formerly known as “Yakuza” in the West.
The show, titled “Like a Dragon: Yakuza,” October 25 On Amazon Prime Video.
The live-action series will tell an original story set in the same era as the first Yakuza game, which was released in 2005.
Kazuma Kiryu, the protagonist of most Yakuza games, will also be the main character in the Amazon version.

The story will follow his life in 1995 and 2005, before and after the Olympics landed him in prison.
Like the game, the series will be set in Kiryu's hometown, Kamurocho, a fictional Tokyo district.
The show, which will be available on Prime Video, is directed by critically acclaimed Japanese director Take Masaharu.
Ryoma Takeuchi, best known for his role in the superhero series Kamen Rider Drive, will play the lead role of Kiryu in Yakuza 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness.
The show will consist of six episodes, which will be released in two parts of three episodes each. October 25th and November 1st, 2024.
