Recently, one of my friends recommended that I watch Fallout, the TV series version of the popular video game series that recently arrived on Amazon Prime Video. After watching this series and being amazed, I was reminded of another gorgeous video game adaptation. The title is difficult to understandwas released in 2021, but I couldn't bring myself to watch it because I didn't know how it would turn out or if it would be to my taste.
However, a few days ago I decided to watch Arcane, and lo and behold, I was instantly captivated by its animation and fantastic storyline. To be honest, this is more than just a TV series; Experiences that raise expectations For all other animation projects.
Based on the world of League of the Legends, Arcane's plot takes place in the utopia of Pitovar and the contaminated underground city of Zaun. In this work, two sisters, Jinx and Vi, who were separated in childhood, realize that they are completely different people after growing up. This just scratches the surface. There's a depth to the storyline that keeps you hooked, and I was captivated by the complex emotional depictions throughout the series.
What makes Arcane great?
Arcane has a rating of 9/10 on IMDb and an average Tomatometer rating of 100%. If we look beyond evaluation, what makes it so good? Well, since I experienced it firsthand, I can share why you should add Arcane to your watchlist for those who missed it (like me).
masterpiece animation
This is one of those animated series that will amaze you with the facial expressions of the characters. The battle sequences, on the other hand, are so well animated that you'll always want to see more. Sometimes, you can forget that you are watching an animated series. It looks very close to reality.
Everything from the characters to the locations is wonderfully animated. The combination of 2D and 3D animation was so clever that I thought there was a cameraman in every scene filming the entire scene. From the beginning, I was in awe of the beautiful color palette of the show, and I said to myself, “This is a beautiful color palette. “We were foolish to ignore this for too long.”
A storyline that will stay with you for years to come.
As mentioned earlier, the story of Arcane revolves around two sisters, Vi and Jinx, who lost each other on an unlucky day. Vi becomes a prisoner and Jinx becomes Silko's bad buddy. For several years, Jinx carried anger towards Vi in her heart and became a twisted person with no regard for innocent lives. When Vi returned, she could not find her sister in Jinx. All she saw was Silko's evil minions who had killed countless people.
Arcane does a great job of setting up Vi and Jinx's story. The music and direction in this series is so great that you can empathize with her sisters in just the first three episodes. I actually cried a little when Vi and Jinx got separated in episode 3. It's all thanks to the beautiful cinematography and direction.
of pacing of the series top notch. Not a single episode takes it out of context or distracts from the main storyline. This show never sidelines other characters in the story. The relationship between Victor and Jace was equally interesting and I couldn't help but wonder how their story would end.
Arcane's stories are written in a way that answers some important questions while also raising some questions and hints about future events, maintaining a sense of mystery throughout.

complex and flawed characters
On top of that, the world of Arcane is full of flawed characters. To be precise, most television series feature perfectly stereotyped characters that audiences love from the beginning. But Arcane is different.
Like the anime character Naruto, Arcane has several main characters who aren't perfect. Jinx's little mistake at the end of the third episode cost her many lives and many of her friends died. But still, I couldn't help but feel sorry for the girl. That's the beauty of this show.
these characters make mistakes, learn from it and evolve. For example, Vi knew that he had driven her sister into darkness by leaving her, so she did everything to get her sister back in her old age.
Additionally, when you consider the characters' backstories, their current actions begin to make sense. For example, Silko was one of the oppressed people, so he had an immense hatred for the rich. But he wasn't heartless. His fatherly love for Jinx laid the foundation for his eventual death. Therefore, we can say that the creators left no stone unturned to introduce the perfect world-building.
There's no denying that the animated series occasionally features short bits of fan service, but you can only find them in meaningful places.
After watching nine episodes, I couldn't help but question my choice not to watch it when it first came out two years ago. Well, now that I've developed a friendly relationship with her Arcane world, I'm curious to see what happens next in the second season, which will grace our screens in November 2024.
I started watching more animated video game adaptations after watching Arcane on Netflix. Although the track record of video game anime adaptations has been disappointing, I feel like things are changing for the better and I'm excited about future anime adaptations.
